The United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit is soliciting comments from the public and members of the bar regarding the performance of the incumbent Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of Alabama, Mr. Kevin L. Butler, and his office. If requested, the identity of a respondent to this solicitation will not be divulged without prior consent. However, Mr. Butler will be provided with a general description of the source and nature of any comments.
All comments should be submitted to Ms. Ashlyn D. Beck, Circuit Executive, Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, at CA11_Appointments@ca11.uscourts.gov on or before May 28, 2026. Please indicate “Federal Public Defender – ALND” in the subject line.

The 2026 Eleventh Circuit Judicial Conference will take place May 13 – 14, 2026 at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Hotel in Aventura, Florida. The Conference is being convened by the judges of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit (Alabama, Florida, and Georgia) to consider the business of the courts and to discuss means of improving the administration of justice within the circuit.
A limited number of spaces, on a first-come, first-served basis, are available to attorneys admitted to practice before the court of appeals or any of the district courts of the Eleventh Circuit. Attorneys interested in attending this conference may obtain registration and conference information by e-mailing judconf@ca11.uscourts.gov or calling the office of the Circuit Executive, at 404-335-6535.
The non-refundable conference registration fee of $395 plus any fees for meals/events must be received in the circuit executive’s office by Friday, April 3, 2026.

Availability of Bankruptcy Administrator Position in the
Northern District of Alabama at Birmingham
The United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit invites applications for the position of Bankruptcy Administrator in the Northern District of Alabama, stationed at Birmingham. Minimum qualifications include the active practice of law for at least three years. The annual salary range is $156,451 – $244,114, based on experience and qualifications.
The bankruptcy administrator is responsible for supervising trustees and debtors in possession and assuring that such persons effectively administer estates in cases in the district under § 1334 of Title 28 United States Code.
